Gorgeous Victorian silver buckle ring made in the year 1882. It's awash with symbolism, to buckle for eternity, loyalty, strength and protection (a favourite motif of Queen Victoria herself), a scrolled, almost vine-like design around the entirety of the band, with a Greek Key border along each edge. Crafted in sterling silver, with clear Birmingham assay marks and maker's mark S&G. The condition is particularly remarkable, appearing as crisp as the day it was made - it wouldn't surprise me if this ring had spent all of its 130 years locked away in someone's jewellery box, or a jeweller's back room...
